On Wednesday the 15th of May 2002 a lo-fi text banner which read ‘GLASGOW WILL YOU MARRY ME? XXX’ was attached to the west facing side of the footbridge that crosses the motorway junction in Charing Cross, Glasgow. The intervention intended to pop the question—from the artist to the city. On the same day Glasgow hosted The Champions League football final between Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. The heavy media presence on this day resulted in the message being hijacked, giving it a new meaning and new authors.
