For the GSA Degree Show, I invited The Nellery (a doorstep gallery exhibiting the work of one local Glaswegian artist, Nell) to occupy the exhibition space. In this arrangement, an artist from outside the art establishment of the school was given the opportunity to trespass into the elite academic framework of the Glasgow School of Art. The production of The Nellery and its re-contextualisation in the Degree Show was initiated and developed through dialogue with the artist. The Nellery reverses characteristics of previous projects: a self-taught artist is given space within the professional and academic context, in contrast to professional practitioners utilising public space.
